Chevrolet was first founded in 1911 by famed racer Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant, who also helped found General Motors. Together, Chevrolet and Durant created the Series C Classic Six. This was an upscale automobile that offer an electric starter and electric headlamps, both rarities at the time.

While the car was popular, it was more expensive than much of the competition. Durant wanted to build cars that were more affordable for the masses. Because of this, Chevrolet decided to leave the company, but his name stayed. Quickly after that, Chevrolet gained a reputation for producing affordable, yet high-quality and reliable cars that people loved.

In addition to their durability, Chevrolet cars stood out for their style and functionality. One of the most popular and iconic early models was the Suburban, which first made its debut as a 1936 model. Even then, it was known for its robust nature and could carry up to eight people and their luggage. It is still around today, making it the longest continuous production nameplate in the United States.

Chevrolet also made some popular truck models including the 1948 Chevrolet Pickup and the 1949 Chevrolet Canopy Express. The Corvette made its worldwide debut at the 1953 GM Motorama. Visitors loved the dynamic design and it quickly became a popular sight on the streets. By 1956, its performance heritage was just getting started.Chevrolet also made its name by providing great family transportation, such as the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad, or 1963 Chevrolet Impala.

Over the next few decades, Chevrolet continued to grow with strong models in the pickup segment, more powerful performance models, and great sedans.

Today, the Chevrolet lineup is better than ever with models such as the Camaro, Volt, Equinox, and Malibu. Come see the modern Chevrolet lineup at Suski Chevrolet.
